At some point in time, virtually every Carnegie library is considered a candidate for expansion. Turning these well-loved icons into larger modern libraries is a persistent problem of considerable complexity. The buildings are inevitably on two levels with the entry on the upper level involving many steps and related handicapped access problems. The entry design is invariably monumental and it is difficult to design an alternative entry with enough architectural significance to draw attention away from the original entry and give a clear signal to the new entrance. Carnegie libraries tend to be monolithic structures with solid masonry walls, high windows and limited opportunities for large openings to penetrate the existing shell. This makes it difficult to integrate these buildings into a modern open concept library with a rational traffic flow and good sight lines for staff. Carnegies tended to be built with a certain balance to the design making it difficult to add on to one side or another without disrupting the formal symmetry of the building. Carnegie libraries were built at a time when tradesmen were highly skilled and labour costs were low, making it prohibitively expensive to replicate exterior and interior details in new additions. Finally, in many cases, including the building in Hespeler, the size of the addition often far exceeds the size of the original Carnegie, making it difficult to add on all that extra space while continuing to respect the very distinctive original building.

Them are covalently crosslinked to the tip on one end and to the substrate on the other. The chemical modification method of cantilevers is given in Fig. 2. The substrate used was modified in a similar manner. The sample molecule thus sandwiched between the tip and the substrate will then be put under a continuous tensile stress by increasing the tip-stage distance. The sandwiched sample will then be stretched until one or more of the weaker bonds in the system are broken. During the stretching of the protein molecule, the mechanical response of the sample against the tensile stress produces a downward deflection of the cantilever which holds the probe at its free end [7]. The extent of cantilever deflection, d, is detected by a bisected photodiode detector and, by knowing the cantilever force constant k, the tensile force applied to the sample is calculated using F --k d. The extension of the sample E during the process of increasing the probe-stage distance D is calculated using E D--d. The experimental parameters obtained from a force spectroscopy experiment are schematically shown in Fig. 3 and explained in the legend. 2.1. Chemicals and Proteins The silanization reagent used 3-amino-propyltriethoxy silane APTES ; was obtained from Shin-Etsu Chemical Co. Tokyo, Japan ; . Disuccinimidyl suberate DSS ; and N-succinimidyl 3 2-pyridyldithio ; -propionate SPDP ; were purchased from Pierce Rockford, IL ; . They were stored under a highly dehydrated and low-temperature conditions and used without further purification. Phosphate-buffered saline as a liquid medium for cells during atomic force microscopy experiments was obtained from Gibco Langley, OK ; . Other chemicals were bought from Sigma St. Louis, MO ; . The proteins used in the stretching experiments were produced by the recombinant method with the insertion of cysteine residues outside the Nand C-termini together with N-terminal histidine tags to facilitate purification by affinity chromatography [21].

Standard DSS has failed to live up to the expectations which were formulated in the early years of DSS development ; of supporting decision makers who have to deal with non-structured problems, Then it is not surprising that not all of the expected synergy has materialised when human decision-makers and computer-based support systems tackle complex problems in interaction. One of the reasons for that is that the intended primary users, the senior managers, have become disillusioned with the capabilities of DSS software and are not active DSS users. They have been replaced by junior analysts, who do not have the knowledge, experience and overview to fully utilise the potential of a DSS. There are a couple of fallacies which have occurred in the field over the years: i ; it is counter-productive to give executives tools to carry out tasks they normally do not perform at all; ii ; the DSS softwares have over the years been developed to include features and capabilities attractive to planners and analysts, but rather unattractive to senior management. Apparently something has gone rather wrong with the standard DSS approach, and the promised more effective and productive way to deal with non-structured problems has not become a reality. 2.2 Active DSS

Smith illegally obtained , 941 in food stamp benefits from the OFS by concealing her household's actual income. Assistant District Attorney Geya Williams, of District Attorney Paul J. Carmouche's office, handled this prosecution. Smith was sentenced to one year of hard labor, which was suspended. She was placed on one year of supervised probation and was ordered to pay full restitution to the Office of Family Support and court costs. -- more-"AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER and duragesic.
Introduction In semi-arid environments, low, unreliable rainfall is the major constraint on crop production. Rainwater harvesting RWH ; , a range of techniques which concentrate runoff from catchment area s ; into a cropped area, was already practised in some areas of Tanzania and had the potential to combat the crop production problems in these areas. The University of Newcastle upon Tyne in the UK, in collaboration with Sokoine University of Agriculture in Tanzania, has developed a tool to aid in the design and understanding of RWH systems. Rather than beginning from scratch, the PARCH Model Bradley and Crout, 1996 ; was taken as a starting point. This is a process-based model, specifically designed for simulating the growth of maize, sorghum and millet in arid and semi-arid environments. PARCHED-THIRST Predicting Arable Resource Capture in Hostile Environments During The Harvesting of Incident Rainfall in the Semi-arid Tropics ; was developed over a period of three years and adds to the PARCH model to provide a user-friendly tool to simulate the most important processes in microcatchment RWH systems Young and Gowing, 1996 ; . The model has been well-received in workshops and as a teaching aid in both Tanzania and the UK. Methods In response to the needs of the National Agricultural Research and Extension Service in Tanzania, development of a decision support system DSS ; is currently underway. This goes beyond the functionality of the existing PARCHED-THIRST model to include: - socio-economic components of the farming system adoption, management, cost-benefits, etc. - hillslope-scale external catchment rainwater harvesting the preferred technique in Tanzania - rainfed lowland rice growing systems such as the majaluba system practised in the regions at the southern end of Lake Victoria. While the PARCHED-THIRST model continues to be an integral part of the DSS, modular mixed-language programming is being adopted to allow incorporation of modified third party software such as ORYZA W Wopereis et al., 1996 ; for rainfed rice and WEPP Flanagan and Nearing, 1995 ; for hillslope runoff and erosion. The DSS has a Windows-based user interface, based upon that of the PARCHED-THIRST model, which is designed to be intuitive and easy to use. Data input, output and analysis exploit the functionality of Microsoft Excel to reduce data manipulation and package-learning overheads The modelling effort has been backed up by a large experimental programme in Tanzania to provide the necessary crop calibration data for maize and rice varieties used locally ; and the soilplant-water data necessary for verification of model performance. Results The PARCHED-THIRST DSS is still under development. However, even results from preliminary simulation studies have produced valuable insights for the target systems within Tanzania. One study simulated two versions serial and parallel ; of a typical majaluba rice system Fig.1a and b ; . These consist of a 10ha catchment area providing runoff for three 1ha jalubas lowland rice fields ; . In the serial system a ; all the runoff from the catchment area passes through the upper, middle and then the lower jaluba sequentially. Whereas, in the parallel system b ; an equal third of the runoff from the catchment area is passed to each of the three jalubas directly.

Adequate referral and follow-up is evidenced by documentation that identified needs and or concerns received an appropriate referral and that follow-up was provided to determine if the referral was completed and or if there are changes in the identified needs and or concerns. The specifics of types of referrals and frequency of follow-up will be dependent on the resources available in the community and setting of the agency. Referral and follow-up is required uniformly, whether in MH or MCC service provision. If a patient is in both the MH and MCC program, it is possible that the agency could use a standardized process to meet the requirements of both programs. The domestic violence screening process minimum recommendation is screening every trimester and postpartum, but there is no restriction on doing it more frequently. Both the MCC and MH staff can use a minimum of the three ACOG screening questions found in the "Responding to Violence Against Women" guide and also at the website referenced above. 8. We have heard that the legislature is requiring birth certificates for all Medicaid applicants starting July 1. We are concerned about how that would affect our revenues presumptive eligibility especially for prenatal. ; I can't find anyone who knows about this including our own DSS staff. Do you know anything? According to Joy Reed, at this point in time, this legislation will not impact Presumptive Eligibility. 9. What kind of policy do we need to develop regarding the new AA requirement concerning disparities in health status training for staff? The DON has consulted Healthy People 2010, but is still unclear on what the State will be looking for in the monitoring process. The counties should have policies that includes a: Statement on provision of training for ALL staff concerning customer service and health disparities issues. This should be inclusive of orientation for new staff along with ongoing continuing education. Statement relating to ongoing assessment, i.e., conduct annual environmental assessment to ensure customer satisfaction and staff utilization of knowledge. ; The environment of the health department would be based upon client satisfaction, staff satisfaction, etc. This could include patient satisfaction questionnaires and efalizumab.

Explanation- * This is a "Strength" for Kershaw DSS. The standard for this objective is that no more than 15% of the children in foster care should have this plan. Approximately 10% 7 68 ; of the children in Kershaw DSS custody have this plan. Both cases managed by Managed Treatment Services MTS ; had this case plan. Stakeholders said that MTS did "an excellent job" of working with children with this plan. It should be noted that the MTS cases show that there is confusion regarding this permanency planning language. MTS Total Service Plans TSP ; and court orders showed case plans of Independent Living. However, Independent Living is not a case plan. It is a set of services. The case plan is Another Planned Permanent Living Arrangement APPLA and eletriptan.

Previous studies of ED care for headache did not distinguish patients with frequent ED visits for headache labeled as migraine ; from patients who were infrequent users of ED resources. Our population sample of ED nonrepeaters was selected because one would expect these patients to receive an adequate, even if brief, evaluation in the ED. Furthermore, since the medical staff is composed of family physicians and internists, the documented care may reflect the care of patients with primary headache outside an ED setting and elidel.

With the hash-based scheme for data aggregation, running the query in Oracle Database 10g Release 2 is 57% faster than running the query in Oracle Database 10g Release 1. The significant performance improvement brought by the hash-based aggregation feature in Oracle Database 10g Release 2 has large impact in the DSS area as a result of the frequent usage of the data-aggregation operation and elmiron.
Given the re-emergent nature of African trypanosomiasis, it is necessary to identify and strengthen a nucleus of research groups and institutions in different endemic countries to generate data, on disease burden and surveillance, for advocacy. Where whole institutions are difficult to maintain as disease specific research institutes, their disease mandates could be expanded to enable them to add on other disease research activities while retaining core activities in the area of sleeping sickness. The SWG commended TDR for the great number of scientists it has supported for post-graduate training. However, continued training of research personnel in African trypanosomiasis, and linking of this training to specific technological needs, which vary from country to country, was recommended. A need to train technical staff for specific needs in research, disease surveillance and management was also identified. The Group further noted the difficulties of sustaining trained staff within the field of African trypanosomiasis in disease endemic countries, and suggested lack of career development opportunities as one of the factors contributing to this shortage. Staff retention is a global problem, not peculiar to the field of African trypanosomiasis. Those working in this field are in the public sector, where salaries are not attractive and career advancement is slow. Lack of resources to carry out research, and to attend short-term training courses, is a disincentive to remain in the sector. Funding for research, on a more sustainable and dulcolax.

We describe a loosely integrated set of teaching modules that allow students to explore decision support systems DSS ; topics ranging from data warehousing to model based decision support. The modules are used as part of a spreadsheet based modeling approach to teaching DSS. We describe one particular module in detail in which students are forced to deal with a muddy dataset as a prelude to analysis, modeling and decision support system development.
